Fishing and Hunting in Alaska

Hunting and fishing are popular in Alaska. A greater percentage of Alaskans fish than residents of any other state. Hiking, camping, and cross-country skiing are all very popular in Alaska.

Beartracks Lodge Alaska
The fishing just doesn't get any better, the air just doesn't get any fresher, the relaxing just doesn't get any relaxier and you just won't believe how really nice a fishing vacation can be until you join us at Beartracks Lodge in Alaska and fish and fish and fish and fish until the stress is all gone and until you've taken so many photos of everything that your camera battery is dead.
We fish the midpoint of the Talachulitna River in South-central Alaska. The Talachulitna was the first stream in Alaska to be designated exclusively as a catch and release river for Rainbow Trout. Dry fly hungry Arctic Grayling are also native. This fishing river offers extremely strong runs of all five species of Pacific Salmon.

Fishing in Alaska differs from fishing anywhere else in the world. Many of the small coastal communities on the Alaska Marine Highway System route make much of their living from the sea, so fishing is more than sport itís a way of life.

Alaska's summer waters teem with five kinds of wild Pacific salmon, plus halibut, hefty rainbow trout and delicate arctic grayling that slash at flies. Alaska offers some of the most spectacular fly-fishing, saltwater fishing, freshwater fishing and even ice fishing in the world. It can be as easy as spending a few hours at a roadside stream or planning a multi-day fly-in to a secluded lake.

Every region of the state offers accommodations that cater to the needs of the angler - ranging from luxurious to rustic. And with over 3 million lakes, 3,000 rivers and countless fish-filled streams in Alaska the challenge isn't catching fish, but making a choice about what kind and where.
